Lead Electrician

Job description

Reporting to the Devizes facilities & maintenance management, the Lead Electrician will be responsible for managing and executing electrical installations, maintenance, and repair tasks. This role involves supervising a team of electricians and electrical apprentices, ensuring all work complies with current safety standards and regulations, and providing exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in electrical systems, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead a team of electricians in performing electrical installations, machine & facilities planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring tasks are completed within the given deadlines.
  • Collaborate with project teams, maintenance staff & contractors to plan and execute electrical projects from start to finish, ensuring timely completion and adherence to specifications.
  • Conduct inspections and troubleshoot electrical issues to identify and resolve problems efficiently and recommend improvements.
  • Ensure all electrical work complies with current UK regulations and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and project progress.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to electrical apprentices, Ensuring that the work being covered is in line with their qualification criteria and advising with future development plans whilst fostering a culture of continuous learning.
  • Oversee the procurement and management of electrical materials and equipment.
  • Respond to emergency electrical situations and provide solutions promptly.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve service delivery.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Hold 18th Edition in BS7671:2018 IET Wiring Regulations
  • BTEC/NVQ Level 3 in electrical
  • PC knowledge including use of Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Experience of mechanical maintenance an advantage
  • Experience in reading and following Electrical Drawings, technical manuals, instructions and warning signs etc.
  • Knowledge and ability to safely and proficiently use a variety of hand and power tools and diagnostic equipment
  • Knowledge of welding equipment, lathes, milling machines and other shop floor equipment.
